DSTRUTH / RADICAL TRANSPARENCY

How we get paid. All of it, in writing.

The model in three sentences

Everything you can read on this site is free — no paywalls, no email gates. When you ask us for an introduction to a professional (a qualified intermediary, a DST advisor, a tax specialist), we match you with a firm from our vetted bench. If that introduction becomes a working relationship, the partner pays us a referral fee — and we disclose that relationship to you, in writing, before your first conversation with them.

What that fee does and doesn't do

It doesn't change what you pay. Partners charge you their standard rates whether you arrive through us or through a Google ad — the referral fee comes out of their marketing budget, which is precisely what we replaced. It doesn't buy placement: partners can't pay more to receive more introductions, and paying us has zero effect on sponsor grades. And it doesn't survive bad outcomes — a partner who generates complaints leaves the bench, whatever the fee was worth.

Why we chose this model on purpose

We spent a decade building marketing for this industry, and we watched what the standard models do to content. Advertising-funded sites chase clicks. Commission-based "advisors" write education that always concludes in the product they sell. Lead-mill sites blast your phone number to five call centers. A disclosed-referral model isn't perfect — but its incentives point the right way: we only win if readers keep having good experiences with the people we introduce. One bad match costs us more in trust than any fee is worth. That math is the business plan.

What "vetted" actually involves

Before a firm joins the bench: registrations and licenses verified against regulatory records; track record and references checked, including clients we find ourselves rather than the ones hand-picked for us; fee structures reviewed and compared against the market; and a working-style interview — because "returns calls within a day" turns out to be the single most predictive diligence item we know. The bench stays deliberately small. A short list we'd stake our name on beats a long list we'd have to caveat.

HIGHLIGHTED

The question you should ask every site like ours: "How do you make money, and would you put it in writing?" We just did. If another site in this industry can't answer in one paragraph, you've learned something important about their content.

Your data, while we're being direct

The form asks for what a partner needs to help you — nothing more. We share it with the single partner we match you with, for the purpose of that introduction. We do not sell it to lead lists, ever. Ask us to delete it and we will.
